Behind-the-scene commentary from Greg Evans:
Little by little, we’ve learned about Toni Daytona. In keeping with “One picture is worth a thousand words,” the 8-5 strip tells us a lot about Toni. It’s the first time we’ve seen her living space and it’s very… IKEA. Which leads to the question, “how is this couple going to merge their life styles?” That’s a plotline for another day…

I don’t know how I ever got along in the pre-Google days. I had to rely on what I could find in an ancient artifact called an “encyclopedia.” These days, I can use Google Images to find reference photos for anything on the planet, such as the furniture in Toni’s apartment. And I can find culinary language like in the 8-8 strip when TJ says “Panini without Gruyére.” To be honest, I have little idea of what, exactly that is.
